Classroom Activity for Early Learners

“Color Quest: Rainbow Adventure”

Ages: 4–7
Players: Whole class (up to 30 students)
Time: 10–15 minutes
Skills Targeted: Color recognition, listening skills, gross motor movement, memory, turn-taking, and early language.

🧠 Game Objective:

Help Rainbow the Unicorn find her lost treasures hidden in each color of the rainbow—by following clues, answering simple prompts, and hopping to the right color grid square!

🪄 Setup:

• Use the colored squares on the Rainbow Reverie Seating Grid Rug as your “quest map.”

• Each square (color) represents a different “land” in Rainbow’s world:

  • Red = Lava Land

  • Orange = Sunset Savanna

  • Yellow = Sunshine Fields

  • Green = Forest Grove

  • Blue = Sky Lagoon

  • Purple = Mystic Mountain

🎲 How to Play:

1. Story Time Starter (1 min):
   Begin with a short story:

   “Rainbow the Unicorn woke up and found her treasures were missing! Her sparkly bell, magic book, golden key, rainbow brush, cloud shoes, and heart crystal are all lost across the lands. Can you help her find them?”

2. Treasure Hunt Clues (main gameplay):
   The teacher gives verbal clues one at a time. Students must:

   • Listen to the hint.

   • Figure out which color land (square) the treasure is hidden in.

   • Hop, step, or tiptoe to the correct square.

   Example Clues:

   • “Rainbow dropped her magic brush where the sun is the brightest!” (Yellow)

   • “Her golden key sank into a lagoon of sky-blue waves.” (Blue)

   • “She left her heart crystal on the tallest purple mountain!” (Purple)

3. Group Interaction Element: After each move, ask a quick follow-up question to a few students:

   • “Can you name something that’s blue like the Sky Lagoon?”

   • “What animals live in Forest Grove?”

4. Victory Moment: After finding all six treasures, everyone sits in their original spots. Rainbow the Unicorn appears (use a small plush or puppet) and thanks the class. End with a group cheer:

   “We found them all, we helped our friend—
   The rainbow quest is at its end!”
