☀️ "Sunny Day Relay" ☁️

(Ages: 4-7 | Players: Small groups or whole class)

Objective:

Students will work together to practice letter sounds, counting, and quick thinking while moving around the Oval Sunny Day Learn and Play Rug in a fun relay-style game.

Game Setup:

• Divide students into two teams.
• Assign each team to one side of the oval rug (one team starts on the left, the other on the right).
• Use flashcards or a spinner with letters, numbers, and simple words.
• Each team lines up behind a starting point.

How to Play:

Step 1: Letter & Number Dash 🔤 1️⃣

• The teacher calls out a letter or number at random.
• The first player in each team runs to the letter or number on the rug.
• If they land correctly, they clap 3 times and say the letter/number out loud.

Step 2: Challenge Round 🎲

• After reaching the correct spot, the player must complete a quick challenge:
  • If it’s a letter → Say a word that starts with it.
  • If it’s a number → Clap or stomp that many times.
  • For an extra challenge → Spell a short word using the letter.

Step 3: The Sunny Sprint ☀️🏃

• Once the challenge is completed, the student runs back to tag the next teammate.
• The next player continues the race.

Winning the Game:

• The first team to complete all turns and reach the sun in the middle wins!
• The final player on each team does a “Sunbeam Spin” (twirl and jump) to celebrate.
• For younger kids, focus on participation—everyone wins for trying their best!
